I downloaded ourTunes (Java program), used it to connect to the server,
downloaded MP3s successfully. http://ourtunes.sourceforge.net/

So I'm really sure it's not the server or client machine. In fact, for
debugging purposes, I could probably set up a dyndns hostname pointing
at it, and open the firewall ports, and you could connect to it
yourself.
