Re Bug #762193: That bug referred to unity 3.8.8-0ubuntu2 which was in Ubuntu 11.04 and was fixed at the time, whereas this bug refers to something that regressed in 5.12-0ubuntu1. The descriptions do sound similar, though.
Note that comments from Bug #762193 Comment #13 onwards seem to refer to this latest incarnation.
