Public bug reported:
Since I upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 LTS
i) "xsane" does not work. Before it was absolutely relible with my
LIDE 110 scanner and printing to a Samsung printer in the copying mode.
ii) Some files made with "Writer" using the Writer version that came
with Ubuntu 11.04 will not open, either the original or the backups
(copies onto USB sticks). Luckily I can still open either using the
previous version of Writer I use on another computer with windiws 7 so I
know they are not corrupt. Please note it only affects some files may be
the longest.
These are not just annoying but serious errors and I wished I hadn't
upgraded. I wasn't going to do as I liked the previous desktop which was
much more arrangeable and I was assured could easily be installed. Some
hope for a simple computer user like me. Previously I had stuck with v.
11.04 for this very reason.
Another comment I would make please don't make the OS more and more complicated
to compete with MS Windows.
Over the years Ubuntu has got quite a bit slower which is retrograde not
upgrade.
Is it possible to revert to Ubuntu 11.04 completely?
Ernst Huehns.
PS. I am not a novice with Ubuntu as I have used it for several years.
