Public bug reported:
I have just upgraded an acer extensa 5635z from ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04.
It used the same xorg.conf I had been previously successfully using
Whether with my old xorg.conf, the one generated by the upgrader, or
none, the xorg only finds monitor modes at 1024x768(4:3) and 800x600,
when it should have one at 1368x768 - or at least in 16:9. With either
config file a dialog comes up to complain and allow troubleshooting, or
to start at 1024x768. With no conf it silently does the same (start at
1024x768)
grub's config has been modified to solve the black screen bug to do with
acpi backlighting when first installing ubuntu-10.04. I'll dig this up
if required
I'd be happy to provide any more info, and will investigate further
myself as time permits. This is game-stopper for me as I require to see
images at correct aspect ratio
Thanks in advance for everyones help
I've attached a file with the conffile as well as logs with and without
that file
