This seems to be related to the nvidia proprietary driver which is not
open source and not fixable.
But why the heck is Canonical making their primary desktop environment
dependent to proprietary graphics drivers? And why are other desktop
environments working smoothly with the proprietary drivers?
Exactly, running 10.04 on an 3 years old desktop. I love it. Today i thought, i
give 12.04 a try. 5 minutes, and it hang. I have Nvidia hardware like so many
people in the world.
I prefer a desktop which works, I prefer a computer which runs, and which with
every update i don't need to buy a new computer. Why not make the LTS available
for 5 or even 8 years. Windows is also still supporting xp, aren they?
