The pathbar issue is gone with the new design, as Software Center 5.2 doesn't have the pathbar anymore, and back-forward navigation should not be too hard to implement in this case. About the technical issue: we could overcome it by using a table with a column for the checkboxes, and another one (or two) for the addon name and package name.
