Concur that this seems like an obviously missing feature that is below
par wrt Apple's launcher. Maximizing screen real estate is a normal &
reasonable objective. Being able to change it with setting
configurations is fine for Debian, but misses the point of Ubuntu. There
are plenty of environments (e.g. VM's) where it might make sense to use
Unity 2D and still expect this feature.
