I am sorry, I don't want to run prerelease versions, and Digikam 0.9.1 isn't prerelease. It follows with Kubuntu 7.04 and is installed with the Adept manager. At first startup it crashes with signal 11. So the setup in the repository must be definitely wrong! The version on Kubuntu 6.06 worked fairly well, so also on OpenSUSE 10.2 and SimplyMepis 6.0.
Thank you for your advice on installing prerelease versions. I have tried to follow the instructions on www.digikam.org to get Digikam 0.9.2-BETA3 work instead of the faulty 0.9.1. After a lot of work to get the necessary bindings fulfilled I got ./configure finished. So make needed some libraries. I started to get them installed, but then the Adept manager went into the wild. It was then I sent the bug message. The follow up bug message was after new install of Kubuntu 7.04 with a clean install of Digikam 0.9.1 from the Kubuntu repository. I didn't start Digikam from the terminal CLI, as an old (born in 1935) and lazy Linux user I use the GUI whenever possible. When need be I resort to the CLI, but mostly I start the applications I need from the GUI and is happy with that. I may go back to the preceding version of Kubuntu and get a working Digikam, but then I loose last version of GRAMPS. If I instead install SimplyMepis I may solve this problems, but then I loose access to my built in card reader on my Medeon Cybercom laptop. May be not to far away in the horizon is a working Digikam 0.9.2 to find in the Kubuntu repositories? Sincerely Nils M.
