For information, my graphics tablet is the Bamboo Pen and Touch. This problem can be reproduced with or without the patched kernel for bug #995081.
The problem appears to be because the new launcher reveal behaviour requires the pointer to be pushed against the left edge as though moving the pointer a centimetre or so past the edge, which can be done using a mouse or using a tablet in relative-mode.
