This is still affecting even after installing Ubuntu 32 or 64 from scratch. Even if I apply the swat-x PPA for nvidia it still affects the PC. It affects Nvidia 9500, 220, 9800, 440 and the new 560 TI I bought. I have to go to the nvidia-settings panel and change the refresh rate from Auto to 60hz for it to "know" that it is on 1680x1050.
