Again, no problem in Ubuntu-X  or Ubuntu-Gnome Nappy or prior
distribution.

Firmware for Intel-5100 appears to be same for working and non-working
distributions.

Just checked problem under latest updates to X-Ubuntu-64 Precise and
LinuxMint-12 and -13:  ALL FAILED

Also ALL FAILED in SUSPEND and HIBERNATE on this Lenovo-Y530 notebook
