Phil, Thanks for the quick reply. When I install Ubuntu just installs Grub2. I have no options to where it installs. I can of course do it manually and that's how I get around this issue, but I'm thinking of the average user when I reported this bug.

When installing Ubuntu 12.04, Grub2 does not seem to account for that and when the installation is finished and you reboot looking to get into Ubuntu 12.04 desktop, grub2 generates an error 15 and halts. What I have tried: (I have tried this on two separate machines so I know it is machine independent) Please note: (Grub1 was installed previously on these machines but another machine had grub1 AND no /boot partition and it worked so I Know it has nothing to do with Grub1) (As stated already, both machines had a separate /boot partition so I can reproduce the error) (as stated:) I tried the install on a third machine with just a / partition and it worked perfectly so I know having grub1 already installed does not affect this situation.
