AzP, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Regarding your Bug Title, "Unable to sleep/hibernate...", please do not stack multiple problems into one report. Hence, this report will only focus on how this device is not sleeping.
In addition, could you please provide all information noted in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ? As well, please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: hibernate (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Package changed: hibernate (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - Unable to sleep/hibernate on Zepto Znote 6024w + Unable to sleep on Zepto Znote 6024w ** Description changed: - For me the sleep/hibernate feature stopped working when updating to - 10.04 (I remember it very clearly) and it has been broken every since. + For me the sleep feature stopped working when updating to 10.04 (I + remember it very clearly) and it has been broken every since. - It tries to hibernate/sleep, but it gets stuck somewhere in the process. - The screen goes black with a blinking cursor, but nothing more happens. + It tries to sleep, but it gets stuck somewhere in the process. The + screen goes black with a blinking cursor, but nothing more happens. I've been running "dist-upgrade" ever since I installed Ubuntu 9.04, and was told that might be an issue. So to debug (and rule out any inconsistencies in my install) I've completely removed and re-installed Ubuntu 11.10. But the issue is still there and reproducible every time. I'm not sure how to supply good debugging information (logs, etc)<, but don't hesitate to ask for more info if needed! peter@zepto:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 peter@zepto:~$ uname -a Linux zepto 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: hibernate (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Mar 8 21:51:02 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: - PATH=(custom, no user) - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: hibernate UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) - --- + --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
