> seems solved by changed dmesg -n8 in /etc/default/rcS to -n7
Ok, not a bug in Ubuntu then. There are no dmesg commands at all in the
standard /etc/default/rcS - this file is for configuring initscripts,
and is not a recommended location for running arbitrary commands at boot
time. Closing this report as invalid.
