Shutdown and Reboot failure on Dell XPS/NVidia/12.04 Sometimes "sudo reboot -h now" works, sometime not.
Had the same problem on 11.10 so I didn't install nVidia driver on a clean 12.04 install but problem was still there. Installed the nVidia driver because it didn't make a difference. Tried stopping all unity processes using "system monitor" before a reboot (sudo reboot -h now) and this seems to work but it is terribly inefficient The unity processes stopped: unity-lens-video unity-music-daemon unity-files-daemon unity-applications-daemon unity-scope-video-remote Then tried it using the ubuntu "shutdown" button and it also seems to have worked Does unity prevent the shutdown completing???? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991977 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 hangs on shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/991977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
