Okay, I borrowed a powered hub to see if it's a hardware related issue. I'm now starting to believe this could very well be a hardware bug. I still get very brief stalled messages as before when the transfers of each file I'm copying (moving, deleting, etc) initially occur for each file, however the transfer speeds now match that of when I used to use Windoze. Going to investigate some more, and have yet to try out various MP3 players to see if a powered hub fixes those problems as well.
