Sorry, no: The packages unity-5.12-0ubuntu1 etc. does not fix this bug.
I just upgraded the packages listed above to version 5.12 and Unity is
again dead slow. There seems to be no difference to version 5.10.
Obviously, this one and bug 987304 are different.
I'll install unity 5.8.0 again then...
