i suspect this is an issue with the hp driver update to 12.04 because
old versions and the new version work, but upgraded installations seem
to remain broken...
i think this bug should be closed, because simple-scan cannot really do
anything about this. alternatively this might be reassigned against the
hp driver.
i am taking a mental note about reinstalling hp drivers though...
