Ubuntu 12.04 has BOINC 7, but the boinc-app packages have not been rebuilt
against it.
This is bug 941483.
You could use the pkg-boinc PPA, where I have just uploaded backports for this.
This will also be worked on to get it fixed in Ubuntu directly though, but will
take more time. The testing PPA is at
https://launchpad.net/~pkg-boinc/+archive/testing
