Same problem. It worked for a few days, then the problem showed up. No idea
why. Some further pieces of the puzzle:
(1) If you try to choose the akonadi-resource as standard => message: "You
cannot use read only resource as standard"
(2) If you set "read only" in the resource to false, it is again read only if
you open it
(3) The contact resource in .kde/share/config/kresources/contact/stdrc is
[General]
PassiveResourceKeys=
ResourceKeys=lNsr5HlbPj
Standard=
[Resource_lNsr5HlbPj]
ResourceIdentifier=lNsr5HlbPj
ResourceIsActive=true
ResourceIsReadOnly=false
ResourceName=akonadi-resource
ResourceType=akonadi
There are 4 akonadi-ressources as part of this meta-resource. None of them is
set to read only
(4) Same for calendar ressource
(5) Creating a new akonadi-contact ressource has the same problem

Second strategie...
Setting up ressources directly in kde resources
(1) can be set as "standard" in kde resource
(2) working for kmails autocomplete feature
(3) used in kmail is only the first resource, whatever resource was set as
"standard"
