Public bug reported:
I was running the update manager when it stopped working. Now, even the
software center does not open. It asked me to report the following error
message. please help me solve the problem. If possible, give me all technical
details as i am a new user. The error message was: "E: Encountered a section
with no package: header, E: Problem with
Mergelist/var/lib/apt/list/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_partner_i18n_Translationen,E:The
package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."
Ubuntu version: 12.04;
can't report the version of package as that gives the same error message.
