Thanks.  Choosing low will not slow down your laptop's CPU, only the
GPU.  This means that your laptop will not be slower overall, but you
might notice a loss of graphics performance in certain areas,
particularly in games.  The upcoming upstream kernel 3.5 might offer
some overall ATI/AMD Radeon graphics performance improvements, but we
will have to wait and see.  Benchmarks will probably be available on
Phoronix ( www.phoronix.com ) in a week or two.

I'm not aware of a way to show the temperature of the GPU.  You could
try looking in /sys/class/hwmon/
