I've experienced the same problem. I had ubuntu studio 11.10 installed before, then I installed (not upgraded to) lubuntu 12.04, and it worked fine. After that I installed openSuse 12.04. Now I've installed ubuntu 12.04 from live USB and got Error 15.
/boot/grub/stage1 didn't exist. I fixed it from live USB from grub command line and grub-install. After restart only the grub command prompt came up, no menu. I tried to reinstall everything again, checked twice that grub's supposed to be installed on my hard drive (I have only one). After reboot Error 15 came up again, system can't boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/999948 Title: Ubuntu fails to account for separate boot partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/999948/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
