Public bug reported:
Upon uninstallation of the currently-used display manager the system,
upon next boot, will be unbootable.
In my opinion the screen shown when you install a new display manager
that has you choose a default should be shown if other display managers
exist, otherwise xdm should be installed and selected as a fallback and
the user should be notified about this fact.
I just experienced this bug and the solution was to go through in
recovery mode to root with networking, and quickly type "startx" hoping
to make it in the small period of time keyboard input is accepted and
install xdm from there, and have it prompt for a display manager switch.
