Thanks for the extra info Márcio. You are using AMD drivers.... I'm using fglrx from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates Many other have reported the same problem using fglrx from jockey.
I've been using, Go to System Settings>Display. Then click apply without changing anything. As a workaround.
