** Description changed: "Something" running in background has crashed without further notice, so that I cannot shutdown, suspend, lock, etc. via task bar menu (and also not use my custom hotkeys). As the pm-utils package offers the same functionality, I used pm-suspend to send the machine to sleep mode. Waking it up again, the desktop appears without lock, so no password is required to access it. The crashed daemon (or whatever it is) may be the same as in bug #992175 and #964542. At the moment, screen brightness setting is possible via hardware keys in single steps, while multiple steps were applied when the shutdown/suspend functions from start menu were still working. Also, as mentioned, my custom hotkeys like Win+C for kcalc are not working at all. Maybe some dbus related stuff again...
