The issue is now gone, BTW:
1) the version of greeter package remains the same (in Precise):
lightdm-gtk-greeter 1.1.5-0ubuntu1
2) GTK+ 3.x library has been updated:
libgtk-3-0 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2
