While there doesn't seem to be an official way to change the cursor in Ubuntu 12.04 (the Appearance section under System Settings is woefully lacking in options), I do believe this issue needs to be addressed because of the accessibility considerations mentioned above.
Is anyone aware of what it is that causes the discrepancy that if you change pointer theme the default cursor remains the same but is updated to the new theme when it changes appearance to become e.g a resize cursor, or changes when it hovers over certain applications like Firefox? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86184 Title: Can't change cursor style using Compiz.
