I use grub EFI amd64; using any kernel above 3.3.7(the stable one) results in ubuntu freezing right before the splash screen with a text, the last line for it is "fb:conflicting fb hw usage radeondrmfb vs efi vga -removing generic driver". Tested with Quantal, and the problem persists(quantal kernel is 3.4+). My hardware is a 2011 imac 21,5", the version with AMD radeon 6770m; this imac version is also know as 12,1. Dual-boot ubuntu OS X with rEFInd. - I am only able to provide this report from ubuntu because linux stores - previous installed kernels, the most recent one which works is 3.3.7. + I am only able to provide this report from ubuntu because linux stores previous installed kernels, the most recent one which works is 3.3.7. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.1.1-0ubuntu2 + Architecture: amd64 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64+mac (20120425.1) + NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + LANGUAGE=pt_BR:pt:en + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + Tags: quantal running-unity + Uname: Linux 3.3.7-030307-generic x86_64 + UnreportableReason: The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo ** Description changed: I use grub EFI amd64; using any kernel above 3.3.7(the stable one) results in ubuntu freezing right before the splash screen with a text, the last line for it is "fb:conflicting fb hw usage radeondrmfb vs efi vga -removing generic driver".
