** Description changed:

  I use grub EFI amd64; using any kernel above 3.3.7(the stable one)
  results in ubuntu freezing right before the splash screen with a text,
  the last line for it is "fb:conflicting fb hw usage radeondrmfb vs efi
  vga -removing generic driver". Tested with Quantal, and the problem
  persists(quantal kernel is 3.4+).

  My hardware is a 2011 imac 21,5", the version with AMD radeon 6770m;
  this imac version is also know as 12,1. Dual-boot ubuntu OS X with
  rEFInd.

- I am only able to provide this report from ubuntu because linux stores
- previous installed kernels, the most recent one which works is 3.3.7.
