It seems to me that it would be preferable to set up the Xubuntu XFFM4 package to invoke xffm functionality with the browser mode switch enabled by default and an easy-to-access GUI setting that would enable the user to toggle how she wants the desktop managed. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill set to do such a thing.
