  I agree it's a matter of philosophy that creates the legal / moral problems, 
much like Christianity creates a Virgin Marry.  I'm not saying that either of 
these beliefs is wrong or incorrect in any way, in fact I understand how futile 
an effort that would be.

  What I'm saying is that if it's an issue for you there is a simple
solution, Communion for example.  If your own beliefs are such that you
feel the need to do extraordinary things, then by all means contact
[1]Dolby Labs and get a quote for a license.

I understand that Debian, for example, might not be interested in
pursuing this angle.  However, this is Ubuntu.

Plus this shouldn't stop the inclusion of LPCM support as suggested
earlier, as an alternative solution.
