In ubuntu 12.04 there is a major regression in mdadm where a delay in registration of RAID component (by udev) during init results in an array being MISTAKENLY tagged as corrupt. This drops the server into a busy box shell and prevents remote restart. This is a MAJOR regression. Please, please unmark 917520 as duplicate. And those of you who have posted on this bug with symptoms described in 917520 should confirm on the other bug.
