I have installed ubuntu 12.04 now on my laptop and I have this constant
high load averange :-(

My laptop configuration is this:

- Laptop LENOVO 300 N200
- Linux 3.2.0-24-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 16:52:17 UTC 2012 x86_64 
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- CPU 2 x Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86GHz
- RAM 4 GB
- Graphic card Intel(R) Corporation Mobile GM965 Integrated Graphics Controller
- Disk 160 GB DataTraveler G2 FUJITSU MHZ2160BH

I hope this problem will be resolved early.
