I think the problem is fixed with latest updates. An Asus-eee works well with
an UPGRADE from xubuntu-Oneric
or test via a LIVE execution with USB-drive.
However on the Lenovo-Ideapad-Y530 always required (run at boot time):
" echo shutdown >> /sys/power/disk"
I had found this fix about about 3 years ago on internet and always for this PC
had to do apply it for suspend/hibernate to work.
Another problem I had was with audio, apparently this has been fixed as
well.
Generally I do fresh installs and was surprised the upgrades worked so
well.
