i cant install it or uninstall it. i've downloaded the bandwidthd.deb
and have attempted to install it via the ubuntu software centre. i get
an error dialog titled 'Items cannot be installed or removed until the
package catalogue is repaired. Do you want to repair it now?'. When i
click 'repair', i get another dialog which says:

'Package operation failed:
installArchives() failed: dpkg: error processing bandwidthd:i386 (--remove):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attempting a removal.
Errors were encountered while processing:
 bandwidthd:i386
Error in function:
SystemError: E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)'

so i am now stuck. is there anyway to roll back to a previous time (say
last week), or remove all traces of this package from my system?
