Great! I don't have permission to do a backport at Ubuntu, please file a new
bug for that or - even better - find someone who can backport it to 12.04.
The problem is that the whole 2.1 version would have to be backported, as the
solution for this issue apparently is a combination of many patches which
cannot easily be cherry-picked.
