Public bug reported:
When I boot this machine in a docking station with the lid closed, the
lvds panel remains blank even when the output is activated. This is a
result of the bios failing to initialize the LVDS register when the lid
is closed.
Linux 3.5-rc1 includes patches to work around this by detecting that the
LVDS register is uninitialized and use the default LVDS register value
from the VBT table instead. However, an additional fix is also required
to ignore the pipe select bit in this register. I'm currently working on
getting this fix upstream.
