This is not a bug in Ubuntu. You have removed the default grub2 boot
loader by replacing it with grub1, but have not configured grub1 for
use; this is a misconfiguration of your system. You need to reinstall
grub2 by running this command from a terminal:
sudo apt-get install grub-pc
