Public bug reported:

I use x.509 certificates for email signing and encryption. The most
common way for these to be downloaded is to pull them into one's browser
security store, export them and import them into the mail client.

In firefox, when a certificate is added to the store, there is no visual
cue to the user that it has been done. The first couple of times that I
did it, I assumed that it wasn't working.

Now, Thawte states in their email:
"Note Netscape users: When fetch is clicked, nothing appears on the page,
however the certificate is automatically downloaded into your browser."

This also applies to firefox. It would be nice to display some dialog
that asked the user if they wanted to accept the certificate from X into
their security store. We could even follow it with a confirmation
message that had a link to the Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Security
(> Certificates?) section as most users that have just installed a
certificate would probably want to look at it.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
