After a while of inactivity the desktop freezes and sound hangs in a ~1 sec
loop.
It seems that the interrupt system is caught in a deadlock which is resolved
by some external input from mouse or keyboard events. This happens with and
without any sound.
First I suspected the sound system to cause the issue but after some
investigations and searches for similar issues I found out it is related to AMD
C1E power saving options. The hanging sound was only a symptom. I reverted all
the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting hints and disabled C1E in
the bios and that solved the problem. At least as a workaround.

After a while (minutes) sound freezes the desktop, keyboard input or
mouse movement fixes it.
This is independent of the sound source. It happens with Rhythmbox or
youtube or anything else. When the desktop is frozen, the music/audio
replays the last second or so, like when an LP/CD gets stuck because of
a scratch.
I already tried the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting
hints with no success.
