Public bug reported:
When using JabRef (a development 2.8 version), a java application, I can
consistently reproduce a bug that causes the GPU memory to get horribly
corrupted . Restarting X does _not_ solve the problem. The new session
is still shows very visible artifacts such as black windows, flickering
screen, and random colors covering the screen. This bug seems to affect
both Unity and Gnome 3. In both cases restarting lightdm and running
Unity/Gnome 3 again continues to give problems. Surprisingly Gnome
Classic (using metacity) does not seem to be affected though it seems to
have some compositing enabled. A full reboot is needed to get things
back to normal.
I'm running the stock Ubuntu java version:
$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.1) (6b24-1.11.1-4ubuntu3)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)
I will try to reproduce this bug using a stock version of JabRef (the
one I'm using is a development version) but I think the bug is from the
VM not the application.
I'm attaching some logs below. Would be happy to debug or add more
logs. I'd really like to see this fixed!
