Instead, the label areas are placed without separating space between them. This will render the output unusable, since the label areas of the writer document don't fit the labels. If the label width is set to 2cm (or inch or whatever), and the horizontal pitch is set to 2.5cm, there should be a 0.5 space between the label columns.
