Public bug reported: Hello,
A related question with further details can be found in Question 200904. Even more details can be found: http://askubuntu.com/questions/152766/ubuntu-12-04-fails-to-boot-after- reboot Basically, Dell c6220's running Ubuntu 12.04 cannot properly reboot unless the "nolapic" kernel option is set. If this kernel option is set, then issuing the "reboot" command or "ctrl-alt-del" will result in the server rebooting, but upon POST, the fans will rev up and not stop. "shutdown -h now" will cause this to happen the next time the power button is pushed. Occasionally (10% of the time), the server will get past POST, but will just freeze right before GRUB is to take over.
