I experienced the same problem. It was on a fresh 12.04, with UbuntuStudio (and so U.S. LightDM theme) installed.
I had these logs : sudo cat /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log.old ** (lightdm-gtk-greeter:2240): WARNING **: Error getting user list from org.freedesktop.Accounts: Le délai d'attente est dépassé (where « Le délai d'attente est dépassé » means "Timeout exceeded") I uninstalled U.S. LightDM theme (cause I don't like it), and ran into problems as lightDM was missing a /usr/share/xgreeters/.desktop file. In my xgreeters folder, there were two files : - lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop - unity-greeter.desktop So I linked unity-greeter.desktop to .desktop in that directory : sudo ln /usr/share/xgreeters/unity-greeter.desktop /usr/share/xgreeters/.desktop And it worked ! First, it solved my lightDM problem, but also the delay :) By the way, it's amazing how fast Ubuntu boots nowadays. PS: I changed many things in my settings today, and another related change could be (but I doubt about) the fact that I changed the config file of lightDM to set Ubuntu as the default session, instead of the XFCE used for UbuntuStudio. I hope others will managed to get rid of this annoying timeout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971717 Title: Delay when loading unity session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-greeter/+bug/971717/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
