I don't think there is any good reason for /usr/share/tomcat7 to be
owned by the tomcat7 user - the parts of the tomcat7 install which this
user requires write access to are located in /var/lib/tomcat7 and should
have the correct permissions.
What problem is this creating for you?
Please could you also upgrade to the latest version for Ubuntu 12.04.
