Ed (or anyone else affected by this bug):

Would it be possible for you to run the "alsa-info.sh" script on both a
working and a non-working kernel?  You can get the script by running the
following on the command line:

  $ wget http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh

Then, just run the script using:

  $ bash alsa-info.sh

This will collect info on you system and write it down on a text file
(the filename will be on /tmp and the script will tell you the file
name).
