Hi Christopher, where oh where have you gone? :-) Since I couldn't build from Ubuntu-2.6.39-0.0 (which appears to actually be 2.6.38 in some form), I did some more reading and started to make use of "git bisect skip". Three "git bisect skip"s and three "git bisect good"s later, git bisect just tells me that the earliest known bad commit was... Ubuntu-2.6.39-0.0. Not terribly helpful! So now what? There are several v4l-related commits, including a major merge from v4l_for_linus, but I don't know git well enough to know whether it's possible to revert those specific commits for testing.
