Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libmjpegtools0c2a

I believe this started about a month ago, when I attempted to install a
brand new version of k3b direct from the official site rather than
through the Ubuntu repositories. It didn't work, and a dependency
nightmare ensued that I was finally able to resolve... or so I thought.

Weird turns along the way; the problem moved from k3b to libc6 to transcode and
now to libmjpegtools0c2a, which, as far as I can tell, is not even installed on
my machine. Synaptic still considers transcode to be the broken dependency,
while sudo apt-get install -f returns the following:
~$ sudo apt-get install -f

Without knowing anything at all about how my system works, it looks like
apt is trying to install two copies of this package from two different
repositories. However, i would assume that this sort of thing has
already been factored in as a possibility and dealt with effectively by
now, so I'm at a loss. All I do know is that Update Manager will not
work until i can resolve this somehow.

I found several threads in UbuntuForums regarding this issue, and since
none ever seemed to report any resolution I figured I should file a bug
report here. Thank you for your attention to this.
