I'm not sure that this dash is a common window.
Is it possible to launch these two commands from a terminal, select your Unity
Dash (I guess you can open it with a shortkey or you can add a delay by adding
'sleep 5 && ' before these commands) and post here the output messages in your
terminal:
$ xwininfo
$ xprop
** Changed in: cairo-dock (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
