I have experienced the same issue. I'd all but given up on getting my Logitech mouse to work on Precise (which has been working since Hardy Herron).
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 (x64) with the following updates enabled: 1) Security 2) Recommended 3) Pre-released I am running on a new Asus G55V laptop with USB3.0 support (not sure if this may be part of the issue?). It may be interesting to note I have no such trouble running the same mouse on another machine (older desktop), with a very similar configuration and set of packages installed. uname -a: 3.2.0-26-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 17:49:24 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The first time I plugged the usb receiver it it worked fine (shortly after a fresh install). A day or so later it simply stopped working at all (either after a cold boot, warm boot, or resume from suspend). Re- inserting the USB receiver, or pluging it in from boot/after boot has no effect. Here's the error message from dmesg: [ 838.949554] usb 3-4: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [ 839.001739] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid [ 839.001744] usbhid: USB HID core driver [ 839.007972] logitech-djreceiver 0003:046D:C52B.0003: hiddev0,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Device [Logitech USB Receiver] on usb-0000:00:14.0-4/input2 [ 839.008256] logitech-djreceiver 0003:046D:C52B.0003: logi_dj_probe:logi_dj_recv_query_paired_devices error:-32 [ 839.008466] logitech-djreceiver: probe of 0003:046D:C52B.0003 failed with error -32 [ 849.612553] usb 3-4: USB disconnect, device number 2 The above repeats a number of times (device number 2, 3.. 11).
